6 dead after truck slams into community barbecue, Dutch police say

The death toll from an accident when a truck drove off a dike and slammed into a community barbecue in a village south of Rotterdam rose to six Sunday and police said a further seven people are in hospital, including one in critical condition. CBS News reported.

The truck, driven by a 46-year-old Spanish man, crashed into the party on early Saturday evening. Police spokeswoman Mirjam Boers says the man's name will not be released due to Dutch privacy laws. Fox News reports.

Police said they were investigating what caused the lorry to leave the road in the village, just south of Rotterdam, and continue down the side of a embankment. Sky News reported.
