Carl Sagan's Cosmos S01E01 - The Shores of the Cosmic Ocean

Science documentary about the origins of the universe from one of the original top ballers Carl Sagan himself.

First broadcast in 1980, this is the first episode of the thirteen-part TV series: Cosmos: A Personal Voyage. Written and presented by Carl Sagan, it is, in my opinion, one of the most profound insights into our universe, especially for the time period that it was broadcast.

Sagan uses our return to Earth as a jumping off point into human history, traveling to Egypt to share the story of the 3rd-century B.C.E. scientist Eratosthenes's deduction of the size of the Earth. He then takes us to the ancient Library of Alexandria, a location we will return to multiple times throughout the series.
