Lion Cubs Play With Plastic Flood Debris | Archive Lion Footage

The Ximhungwe lion pride relaxing in the Sand River where the cubs unfortunately took great joy in running around with some of the plastic debris brought downstream during the floods after the first heavy rains of the season. This sort of plastic pollution waste is responsible for a lot of the fence breakages during the wet season as it accumulates against the fence wires across rivers until the stress is to great and either the wires snap or a pole falls. Teams clean up the river regularly. The lions would not be harmed by playing with such plastic waste as they did not chew on it only carry it around.
