Chicken Predator Problems | We Lost A Baby Chick

When you have a homestead with chickens you can almost count on having chicken predator problems. Last fall we had a hawk take one of our full grown chickens, and one of our young pullets went missing. This past week we had our 10 week old chicks outside in a cage and an animal dug under it and took one of our young chickens. We had chicken wire around the cage as well as around the bottom of the cage but it wasn't enough to stop the predator from digging under. We placed our chicks in with our adult chickens in the run. We have recently moved them into a more protected area to keep them safe. Unfortunately when you are learning to homestead experiences gain knowledge and this is another lesson on what not to do.
