FIND THRIFT SHOP DEALS | VINTAGE RESELLING | GOODWILL VS INDEPENDENTS

The December tornadoes only temporarily foiled my plans to shop and film the thrift stores of Bowling Green! After hearing that some of those shops were hit, we wanted to go shop and support them, and see whether any good deals blew in over the three month hiatus.

Our first stop is the south end, home of the town's best Goodwill to find vintage. We almost instantly find our first bargain,an auspicious start in a shop we often pass by in favor of the more fertile independent thrifts and consignment stores!

Next , we see the damage inflicted on a large strip mall, where we hope the two independent thrift shops have managed to reopen! There behind boarded windows is Gramma's Attic, a large combination thrift and consignment shop with good prices on true antique furniture, vintage clothing, lots of collectible housewares and even a fun and funky hat like you probably have never seen! Next door, we comb St. Theresa's, a 100% thrift store where a beautifully decorated Westmoreland piece and a surprisingly old Franciscan China bowl are near misses.

After my dental appointment, it's on to Consignment World, another new stop for me in what's becoming a thrift mecca to which I will return! This store has a lot of antiques, vintage and old furniture, from cheap deals on a 1970s working hi-fi stereo console and an 1890s hall tree to stately prints, fun wall pockets, Victorian English china and 1960s glass, with even a 1940s motorcycle gas tank to make it more interesting! We also talk about how to tell newer Chinese import furniture from old, meet a sleepy dog and show a "Victoria" pitcher that's far from Victorian.

We leave a long day of thrifting happy to see the revival of some hard-working thrift stores after their terrible debacles, with some bargains in the car to boot!

Primitive 1890s corner cupboard, oxen yokes, Minion plush, Noritake casserole, 1970s candle sconces, Hull Pottery pitcher, Pendleton coats, buttonholer, Pfaltzgraff Yorktowne deviled egg server, ceramic shoes, French parquetry dining table, English wardrobe, majolica pitcher, 1960s luggage, 1910s music cabinet, 1880s candle stand dressers, Victorian oak washstands, 1950s fumigated oak dresser set, McCoy planter and cookie jars, dome top trunk, TV Guide, vintage Scottish bagpiper shag rug, 1930s mini loom, Sessions art nouveau mantel clock, German 1890s wall clock, Snow White Disney portable record player, Schmid Hummels, Syroco black Americana thermometer, Field-Limoges plates, hen on nest, circa 1900 oak secretary desk, Adams Portia Shakespeare plate, Hull Pottery pink matte floral vase, antique cameo, vintage fishing lures, Brittains lead soldiers, Salem art deco dinnerware set, 1984 World's Fair mug, Canton Victorian English serving bowl, Haeger bird figurine, sock darner, cast iron teapots, 1970s big-eyed children prints, 1970s salon hair dryer chair, early 1900s school desks, 1960s grand opening sign, Mexican Saltillo throw, resin grapes, Pyrex mushroom bowls, Schwinn bike, King's Crown goblets, oil cans, etc.
