A TOWN MADE FOR THRIFTING | VINTAGE VENUE VLOG | SHOP WITH ME

How did we not know about this place? Just 12 miles off the Oregon interstate, the old storefronts of Payette, Idaho teem with vintage bargains, with a collection of several thrift stores and one hybrid antique/thrift mall that are begging to be discovered!

Discovery it is, with vintage values and antique deals ranging from Sascha Brastoff Alaska wares to Leica photo boxes waiting to go with me to my antique reselling venues, both real world and online. Every store has something to offer, at prices resellers can profit from handsomely! Only one is a chain thrift store, so we see crazy pricing (80 cents for a Vernon Kilns coaster), out-of-place items that need a new home (Hawaiian outriggers in Idaho?) and even some scarcities like Broadmoor Pottery and a Jane Bennison piece for Vernon Kilns.

This sleepy town is full of fun, with hidden gems in a store with no name (really!), a languorous dog named Lester at the helm and a thrift store chain unique to the region that offers good prices on good vintage to put to good use. 1910s moriage ware and a finely painted Austrian ewer give it antique credibility, while a fish planter with a story illustrates how the west coast taught the rest of the country the fun of a more casual, whimsical lifestyle. This is a place worth coming back to shop!
