BAD INTENT

They’re doing wrong, but they think it’s clever,
When the trust is gone, it’s gone forever,
The way they act, it doesn’t seem to matter,
As long as it gets them up the ladder.
Convinced of no light at the end of the tunnel,
Lies, rage, unchecked greed poured into a funnel,
Concentrated corruption, built up brick by brick,
Building a monument for the truly sick.

They deny the goodness that abounds,
They worship the light of golden crowns,
Instead of sorrow, they double down,
Mayhem and destruction in their wake.

Bad intent, like ripples going on forever,
An executioner pulling all the levers,
No going back to the ties that were severed,
The bad sleep well, rested for their endeavor.
They have the pulpit, the money, and the power,
Cover their rank façade with an ivory tower,
Praising pride and fear for pride and fear’s own sake,
Do what thou wilt, they think that there’s no burning lake.

They deny the goodness that abounds,
They worship the light of golden crowns,
Instead of sorrow, they double down,
Destruction for destruction’s sake.

Bad intent when good men do nothing.
Bad intent, wake up, say something.
