Las Vegas, Nevada A 19-year-old man killed in a shootout with Las Vegas police SWAT officers as they burst into an apartment was not the suspect in a murder investigation that prompted the raid, a department official said.

One officer was badly wounded, another received an arm wound and Isaiah Tyree Williams was killed in the pre-dawn shootout during the service of a search warrant Monday in southeast Las Vegas, Assistant Clark County Sheriff Andrew Walsh told reporters Thursday.

Walsh said the suspect sought in the homicide case wasn't in the apartment but was later found and arrested. He was not identified during the media briefing about the shooting.

Video from police body-worn cameras showed five SWAT officers, including three with rifles, firing a combined 23 shots toward Williams as he lay on a couch and fired 18 shots toward them with a .22-caliber handgun.

Officer Kerry Kubla, 50, a department officer since 2008, was shot in both arms and one leg and remained hospitalized facing a long recovery, Walsh told reporters.

The shooting was the second of three in a week involving Las Vegas police.

Officer Brice Clements was treated for an arm wound and released from a hospital, Walsh said. Kubla was the first of four officers met with gunfire after breaking through the door to enter the apartment, followed by Clements, Officer Alex Gonzales and Sgt. Russell Backman.

Officer James Rothenburg fired three shots with a handgun from outside a window of the first-floor apartment where Williams was later pronounced dead, Walsh said.

The Clark County coroner said Williams died from multiple gunshot wounds to the body.
