Extraordinary images of Jupiter captured by James Webb Telescope - BBC News
The world's largest and most powerful space telescope has revealed unprecedented images of Jupiter. The James Webb Space Telescope took the pictures of the solar system's biggest planet. They show auroras, giant storms, moons and rings surrounding Jupiter in detail that astronomers have described as "incredible". The infrared images were artificially coloured to make the features stand out because infrared light is invisible to the human eye. The $10bn telescope is an international project led by the US space agency Nasa, partnered with the European Space Agency and the Canadian Space Agency. It was launched in December 2021, and is currently positioned about one million miles from Earth. Mishal Husain presents BBC News at Ten reporting by science correspondent Helen Briggs.
