Pima County, Arizona - Ryan Remington has been indicted on a charge of manslaughter in the Nov. 2021 killing of Richard Lee Richards, a man in a motorized wheelchair who died after Remington shot him in the back nine times when confronted over a shoplifting incident.

Remington, a former Tucson Police Department officer, has faced an investigation and potential criminal prosecution in the death of Richards, who had shoplifted a toolbox and threatened a store worker on Nov. 29, 2021.

Remington was indicted by a grand jury on one charge of manslaughter on August 24, 2022.

Remington was quickly fired by Tucson Police Department after the deadly shooting just outside of a Lowe's home improvement store on Tucson's South Side. He will be arraigned in Superior Court on September 1, 2022.

Body cam and surveillance video is provided for viewing and analysis.
