Did J.J. Abrams actually fix the 'problem' with Star Wars?

I take a look at audience reviews on Rotten Tomatoes to try and answer a troublesome question. Did director J.J. Abrams actually fix the problem with Disney's Star Wars trilogy? I look specifically at 'verified' reviews and also ask if 'Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker' will be as divisive as 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' to the fan base.
