The sun (and all stars) are run by nuclear fission. Fission is where two helium nuclei smash into each other at high speed and form a hydrogen atom. Fission produces tremendous amounts of energy. Which allows our plant earth to survive.
Current nuclear plants run on nuclear fusion – which is the splitting of atoms. This produces a large amount of power.
Now a team of scientist in CA in Aug 2021 have just released a peer reviewed paper stating they have achieved a sustainable nuclear fission reaction. The output is large, this one test it was 1.3 MEGAjoules in just nanoseconds. This is the ultimate (currently) clean power
