Only Selfish Leaders Take Advantage of Others by J Loren Norris

ONE SIGN OF MATURITY AS A LEADER IS WHEN YOU RECOGNIZE AN ADVANTAGE FOR YOU IS AN INJUSTICE TO OTHERS.

Often leader see an open window of opportunity, in a weakness, a failure or a blind spot of others or a system. When gaps appear, it is natural for the apex predator to pounce on the weakness for assured victory.

This is why in the wild, the slowest gazelle is lunch. The injured wildebeest is take down as a buffet for the lions or hyenas. The predator knows when the enemy is weak, unprepared or unaware and that’s the time of attack.

Many leaders see themselves as apex predators. They look for every weakness, every failure, every mistake to capitalize on the situation. They look to gain the upper hand. They long to get the best of everyone and every situation. You know leaders like this. They usually make the news for their huge wins.

As I observe leaders in all stages of growth, wealth, power, influence, position, stature and authority I recognize something powerful about those with the greasiest longevity and the greatest legacy. They tend to look at the weaknesses of others, the struggles of others, the pain of others, not as advantageous time to take advantage of, but as an opportunity to serve those who are in need.

Selfish leaders look for every chance to better their own station. Great leaders look for every chance to better mankind.

Selfish leaders exploit and capitalize on the disadvantaged in order to create an edge. Great leaders identify injustice and seek to bring justice for all.
Selfish leaders are more concerned about their own gain and position than the welfare of others. Great leaders apply their wisdom and expertise to level the playing field for all as best they can.

If you’re a leader who pounces on others moment of weakness to gain advantage. Ask yourself, is there a way for ya to create a WIN-WIN rather than a WIN AT ALL COSTS???
