Iran launches 2-day massive drone drills amid US concern of possible supply to Russia

1. Iran on Wednesday launched exercises to test its combat and reconnaissance drones, state media reported, amid US concerns over the possible supply of Iranian-made unmanned aircraft to Russia for use in the war in Ukraine.

The two-day war-games will involve 150 drones and will cover Iran's Gulf coast and most of its territory, state television reported. The country's air-defences and "electronic warfare" capabilities will also be tested against mock enemy drones.

Iran and the regional forces it backs have increasingly relied in recent years on drones in Yemen, Syria, Iraq and the Strait of Hormuz at the mouth of the Gulf.

The United States said earlier this month that Russian officials were being trained in Iran as part of an agreement on the transfer of drones between the two countries, and accused Tehran of planning to supply hundreds of unmanned aircraft to Moscow for use in Ukraine. (REUTERS)

2. Iran started on Wednesday two-day large-scale drone maneuvers involving different army units, semi-official Mehr news agency reported.

On the first day of the war game, the unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) manufactured by the Iranian army and the Defense Ministry successfully carried out reconnaissance and monitoring missions in border areas and in international waters, said the drills' spokesman Mahmoud Mousavi.

The missions were conducted by Yasir, Sadeq, Pelican, Ababil-3, Yazdan and Mohajer-6 drones, which are only a small part of Iran's drone capabilities, he added.

The central headquarters of the war game is located in the province of Isfahan, according to the IRIB news agency.(Xinhua)

***Three American Troops Sustain Injuries In Rocket Attacks In Syria, Says USCENTCOM

The United States on Wednesday announced that three American service personnel were injured in two separate Iran-backed rocket strikes which were conducted on facilities housing US soldiers in Syria. According to a statement from US Central Command (USCENTCOM), one US service member at Mission Support Site Conoco received minor injury treatment and is now back on duty, while the rest two are being examined for their wounds.
