Me and “ Buffalo trace “ woke up at about 4AM to what sounded like bears peeling the lid off of our bear cans . We both heard it , so we got up , flashlight in one hand and a rock in the other , ready to make some noise and save our food.

We get to our cans and they were not disturbed at all . We both thought the mountains were playing with our mind , so I stayed up and rekindled the fire to help break the crisp morning wind .

Around 7:30 everyone woke up and we assessed the mountain , reaching preacher Rock first . It was a great first payday , but the elevation did not show any mercy afterwards .

Once we reached Jerrard Gap we refilled our water supply and then made it to shelter at Woodys hole shelter . The spot is amazing , but finding fire wood will be a task.
