I have five points to cover and before I do that, I should state that I do believe that the current dating climate is not conducive to developing self-esteem but I would not look to it for that. It will be fraught with rejection or a lot of wondering if your interest has been noticed or not, or if someone isn’t interested and won’t even politely tell you “not interested”. When I was single, I didn’t really consider myself as having low self-esteem but I figured I would feel better about myself if I had a girlfriend, and then a wife, does that makes sense?

Something so natural seems like it shouldn’t be so difficult to accomplish, yet it is. After enough striking out in various ways, a guy can begin to feel like he is on the outside looking in and something must be terribly wrong with him. He has tried school, church, job, asked friends, the bars, the gym and even dating apps to no avail. He might even still be in his twenties, like I was before I got married, he could be in his 50s. Men older than that are looking for wives too.

There are some similarities to looking for a job. They say you need experience but how do get experience without having a job? In relationships, some say that not having had a relationship for a long time is a turn off, but how do you get the relationship? Not being able to land a job is very rough, but not being able to attract someone of the opposite sex can be taken personally to a very high degree, that can lower one’s self-esteem.

I can remember how I felt back in March of 2015 before I saw the light at the end of the tunnel, the dawning of opportunity, back before I joined an international dating site that changed the course of my life.

While a Filipina will accept you for who you are, of course, we all need to be mindful of what we need to improve on. Prepare yourself for marriage by working on being kind and patient, by being a devoted employee, by learning about priorities in life, by taking better care of yourself. Self-improvement is something you owe yourself and your wife one day; that’s a good thing but I think you will be delighted by how much you are likely to be accepted by a Filipina.

Why not give it a try? The Philippines is a great place to find love beyond the sea!
