Footage captured at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant in Energodar on Tuesday shows damage to the facility following shelling.

Buildings appear to show signs of damage to the exterior walls, with rubble seen inside the plant, along with broken glass from shattered windows. Personnel are also shown examining shell casings embedded in the ground outside.

A water pumping station was reportedly struck, but remains operational as most of the technical kit is located underground.

The Russian Defence Ministry has accused Ukrainian forces of carrying out repeated attacks on the plant.

Kiev and its allies have accused Moscow of shelling the facility and using it as a base to launch strikes, which the Russian Ambassador to the United Nations, Vassily Nebenzya, called 'cynical and absurd'.

Russian forces took control of the facility back in February. Moscow has been calling for a visit by representatives of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), while the organisation’s Director-General Rafael Grossi confirmed on August 19 that negotiations for a mission were underway.
