Until last week, “Roaring Lion,” a famous photograph of scowling Winston Churchill, hung on display for decades at Ottawa’s Château Laurier hotel. But a hotel employee recently noticed that the portrait’s frame no longer matched those of the five other Yousuf Karsh photographs on display. The Daily Beast reported.

The hotel said the photograph was replaced with a copy of the original. The portrait is supposed to be locked into the wall by four anchors, but it wasn't. USA Today reported.

The hotel then contacted Ottawa police, who confirmed to CBC on Monday that they are investigating the potential theft. CBC reported.
