Russian rockets struck a passenger train in a station in eastern Ukraine on Wednesday, killing at least 15 people and wounding 50 more, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said. Reuters reported.

The president said during a UN Security Council meeting that Russia launched a rocket attack on a railroad station in central Ukraine, causing four passenger cars to catch fire on the country's Independence Day. Axios is reporting.

The lethal attack took place in Chaplyne, a town of about 3,500 people in the central Dnipropetrovsk region, Ukrainian news agencies quoted Zelenskyy as telling the U.N. Security Council via video. The Associated Press reported.
