Dayna Devon announces departure from KTLA Weekend Morning News; focusing on LA Unscripted full time

It was a bitter-sweet moment on the set of the KTLA 5 Weekend Morning News Sunday as beloved entertainment anchor Dayna Devon announced she will be departing the weekend team.

Dayna said she’s stepping away from full-time reporting to focus on her family and enjoy the remaining teenage years of her two children.

“My daughter is turning 17 at the end of September, and I’ve missed seeing my kids so much,” Devon said. “They work so hard during the week, and we don’t get to see a lot of them. And I only have a year left with her before she leaves and two years left with my son.”

Fans of Dayna will be happy to know you can still see her on your screen on a regular basis. She’ll be shifting her focus to work full time on KTLA’s primetime show, LA Unscripted.

“LA Unscripted has really taken off and grown by leaps and bounds, so I’m going to be doing that five days a week,” Devon said.

Devon’s decadeslong career as an entertainment reporter and host brought her to KTLA, and she said the station, and particularly the weekend show, allowed her to be herself and have fun.

“I love this show so much. I’ve had the best time,” she said as she fought back tears. “I’ve worked on a lot of shows, but there’s never been a show that let me, be me.”
