Composer James Pankow only used a Single Verse (aka, One Song) for the Song's lyrics, and over so few words, he described so much...while Walter Parazaider stole the show with a gorgeous Flute Solo that gave the song its Feel of a Lone Soul's Journey, Seeking Salvation, on a Christic Path of Self Discovery...and finally, the choice to have Chicago's extraordinary Guitarist, Terry Kath, to sing the lead vocal, helped to give the Song it's RAW and Humble Nature that clearly struck a chord with millions of Listeners, as this song rose to #7 on the Billboard Top 100 Chart in June of 1971, and has remained a Fan Favorite over all these years...
