Some Caldwell cigars I like. Some Caldwell cigars I do not like. So, when I got this Caldwell Anastasia Caspia Corona from Luxury Cigar Club, I was cautiously optimistic. But, you guys asked for the review, so here we go!

Today's cigar is the Caldwell Anastasia Caspia Corona, and it's chock full of undisclosed tobacco nobody can talk about. To make this cigar, apparently, Robert Caldwell teamed up with Ernesto Carrillo, and neither wanted to talk about the tobacco in this cigar (something you know I don't like).

After freeing the Anastasia Caspia from its cellophane, the cigar smelled of leather. Once I (finally) got the golden ribbon off the foot and cut the end with my guillotine, I could taste hints of hops and sourness that I typically associate with Caldwell's cigars.

After torching the foot, the aroma of the smoke was earthy, leathery, and very pleasant, but the draw was a little bit tight.

Through the first third, the burn was mostly even. The flavors were a mix of good and “eh,” were of leather and earth, and reminded me of potpourri.

Final Thoughts

Even though I didn't love the flavors of sour hops (as in what goes into beer), that are dominant in this cigar, the Caldwell Anastasia Caspia Corona is a well-made cigar that fans of Caldwell and E.P. Carrillo might really love.

The construction of the cigar was almost perfect. The burn was quite even, and the draw, which could've been a little better, opened up with just a little bit of massaging. However, I do think the price point is a little high, but that might be because I didn't care for the leathery, earthy, and hoppy flavors.

Overall, the problems I had with this cigar were mostly personal and subjective ones. By all accounts, this cigar is well made and full of flavors someone out there will enjoy. While I wish it came in at a slightly lower price point, the Caldwell Anastasia Caspia Corona earns a CigarScore 5.
