Hero mom wades into gang to break up fight

A 49-year-old mother of three has been commended for her bravery after single-handedly confronting a gang of thugs beating up a man.

Clare Larkey-Jones, an off-duty police officer, came across the brawl in Caernarfon, north Wales, where a man in his 20s had already been badly beaten. PC Larkey-Jones described the gang as ‘like a pack of wild animals,’ and told local media she ‘just went on auto-pilot and got hold of the ringleader,’ grabbing him as the others fled.

The case later went to court where the ringleader, 19-year-old Callum Lee Davies, was sentenced to 12 months in jail. The judge was full of praise for PC Larkey-Jones, telling the court, ‘She got in the middle of all these men who were behaving violently. She very clearly and robustly sent everybody on their way.’ To be fair, if you’ve brought up three kids there isn’t much that scares you.
