At the end of chapter 30 we learned that Jacob had made his own flock from Laban’s and had become wealthy. Laban’s sons saw that he was becoming wealthy and said that Jacob took Laban’s wealth. They thought that Jacob had taken what belonged to their father. Today let’s ready Genesis 31:1 and Ephesians 4:29 and explain how Laban’s sons were not building Jacob up, they were trying to tear him down. It is important to try to build others up with our talk. Jacob heard that Laban’s sons were saying, “Jacob has taken everything our father owned and has gained all this wealth from what belonged to our father.”
