The Gospel according to John - Chapter 1 🙏🙏

Hello, welcome to the Moment in Christ channel.

The Gospel according to John

Chapter 1

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
He was in the beginning with God.

All things were made by him, and without him nothing that was made was made.
In him was life, and the life was the light of men.

And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not understand it.
There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.

This man came for a witness, that he might testify of the light, that all through him might believe.
He was not the light, but that he might testify of the light.

There was the true light, which enlightens every man who comes into the world.
He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world did not know him.
He came to what was his, and his did not receive him.

But as many as received him, to them he gave power to become children of God, to them that believe on his name;
Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
John testified of him, and cried, saying, This was the one of whom I said, He that cometh after me is before me, because he was before me.
And we have all also received of his fulness, and grace for grace.

Because the law was given by Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
God has never been seen by anyone. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he has revealed him.

And this is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who are you?
And he confessed, and did not deny; he confessed: I am not the Christ.

And they asked him: Then what? Are you Elias? And he said: I am not. Are you a prophet? And he replied: No.

So they said to him, Who are you? that we might give an answer to those who sent us; what do you say about yourself?
He said: I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness: Make straight the way of the Lord, as the prophet Isaiah said.
And those who had been sent were of the Pharisees.

And they asked him, and said unto him, Why then baptizest thou, if thou art not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the prophet?
John answered them, saying, I baptize with water; but in your midst is one whom you do not know.

This is the one who comes after me, who is before me, whose sandal thong I am not worthy to untie.
These things happened in Betabara, across the Jordan, where John was baptizing.

The next day John saw Jesus coming towards him, and said, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
This is the one of which I said: After me comes a man who is before me, because he was before me.
And I didn't know him; but that he might be manifested to Israel, therefore I came baptizing with water.

And John testified, saying, I saw the Spirit descending like a dove from heaven, and it rested on him.
And I did not know him, but the one who commanded me to baptize with water said to me: On him whom you see the Spirit descend, and rest on him, he is the one who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.
And I have seen, and I have testified that this is the Son of God.

The next day John was there again, and two of his disciples;
And when he saw Jesus passing by, he said, Behold the Lamb of God.

And the two disciples heard him say this, and they followed Jesus.
And Jesus, turning and seeing that they were following him, said to them: What do you seek? And they said: Rabbi (which, translated, means Master), where do you live?
He said to them: Come and see. They went and saw where he was staying, and they stayed with him that day; and it was almost the tenth hour.

It was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, one of the two who had heard this from John, and had followed him.
He first found his brother Simon, and said to him, We have found the Messiah (which, translated, is the Christ).

And he took him to Jesus. And Jesus, looking at him, said: Thou art Simon, the son of Jonas; thou shalt be called Cephas (which means Peter).
The next day Jesus wanted to go to Galilee, and he found Philip, and said to him, Follow me.

And Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.
Philip found Nathanael, and said to him, We have found him of whom Moses in the law and the prophets wrote: Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.
Nathanael said to him, Can anything good come from Nazareth? Philip said to him, Come and see.

Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and said of him, Behold a true Israelite, in whom there is no guile.
Nathanael said to him, Where do you know me from? Jesus answered and said to him, Before Philip called you, I saw you while you were under the fig tree.
Nathanael answered and said to him: Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; you are the King of Israel.
