"We were thrown to the front line like cannon fodder, although I studied to be a gunner. They didn't say where they were taking us, they didn't explain anything at all. We were under fire for three days and surrendered to yours [Russians]."

"Are you mobilized?"

"That's right. We were taught to direct artillery, but they threw us with machine guns to the front line. They didn't even tell me about it. They brought me there at night. They picked us up on the morning of the first day, woke us up and took us to an unknown destination. It was later that we found out we were brought to Marinka, already in the evening. They brought us to some position and told us to sit and watch."

"Were you on the front line?"

"We were on the front line. We didn't even know it."

"How were you captured?"

"We were sitting in the cellar. There was intense shelling for three days. We didn't even go out. Sometimes we ran out to find water and something to eat. Closer to lunch, we heard voices, 'Come out one by one, or we'll throw grenades.' We started going out one by one and surrendering."

"What was the attitude [from the Russian side]?"

"The attitude was normal."

"Were you beaten here?"

"No."
