It’s in the interest of the buyer to pick the escrow agent who is often the same person as the closing attorney or the authorized title insurance agent. For example, in Miami-Dade and Broward counties where it's customary for the buyer to pay for title insurance, the buyer would certainly also pick the escrow agent which as we discussed is often the same person.

It's important for the buyer to feel comfortable with whoever the escrow agent is, even if it's someone suggested by another party such as the real estate agents on the transaction. This is because the escrow agent will be holding the buyer's deposit in escrow and you want someone trustworthy who will be holding on to your funds.
