EVERY ACTION HAS A REACTION AS WELL AS UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES OR A RIPPLE EFFECT
EVERY ACTION HAS A REACTION AS WELL AS UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES OR A RIPPLE EFFECT
“Who decides what the options are? Who chooses the menu of choices? How did we get to the place where these are the last options? What if every option has consequences? Every option has consequences! If I control your options, I control your choices, even while allowing you to perceive the right to choose.” J Loren Norris
LIMITED OPTIONS ILLUSION
This concept of limited options is a very subtle form of hypnotic suggestion. This form of manipulation has a way of simultaneously creating a sense of urgency, compulsion and an odd form of attachment to confirmation biases. The idea of limiting options is designed to make choosing easier by removing the clutter of undesirable or impractical options. Raising Cane Chicken offers chicken... No burgers, no grilled cheese, no salad. Your options are limited to slaw and fries or no. If I offered another option and said you can have chicken or cow patties, you might feel like you have freedom to choose but it is an illusion.
CONTROL THE OPTIONS
If I control your options, I control your choices, even while allowing you to perceive the right to choose. Riots or peaceful protestors? Law enforcement is the last line of civil defense or policing as a concept is systemic racism? Cashless society or die of a virus? Shut down businesses, schools and churches or die of a virus? Vote for a Republican or vote for a Democrat? On the surface, these look like choices which should be simple to make, but the surface does not to reveal the truth about the consequences of the ripple effect.
CONTROL IS THE POINT
Most humans resist being controlled. Most humans do not like to be told what to do, when to do it or how to do it. Most governments grow, maintain and retain their power by controlling people who do not want to be controlled. Everyday a person has power, the more that power becomes seductive. As the old says goes, “power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” When a politician’s track record includes amassed wealth beyond their salary and terms of service extended beyond reason, there must be an eyebrow raised. Many politicians see the lure of power, influence and control as the primary purpose for office rather than serving the people or community. When this seduction reaches its full capacity, they will pull out all the stops to hold on to power. They will lie, cheat, steal, kill, deceive, control and make “the people” feel like they are still the best choice. If I control your options, I control your choices, even while allowing you to perceive the right to choose.
