6-year-old girl shot in Chicago, 7-year-old boy shot while playing video games in Philadelphia

A 6-year-old girl who was shot in the arm on the South Side Saturday is the most recent child to be shot in the city of Chicago — at least the eighth child younger than 16 to be shot here this week, according to police. The Chicago Tribune is reporting.

Chicago police said the girl suffered a gunshot wound to the arm just before 6:30 p.m. in the 7200 block of S. Racine. WGN News reported.

She was taken to St. Bernard Hospital in good condition, FOX 32 Chicago reports. Fox News reports.

Elsewhere in Philadelphia, A 7-year-old boy became the victim of a shooting as police say he innocently sat playing video games in his room Saturday night. Fox29 is reporting.

The boy, who has not been identified by law enforcement, was playing inside his home in Philadelphia's Germantown neighborhood at about 9:41 p.m. when the shooting occurred, local television news station WPVI-TV reported. Newsweek reports.

The boy was struck in the leg. He was rushed to an area hospital where he was placed in stable condition. ABC6 News reported.
