Japan is considering the deployment of 1,000 long-range cruise missiles to increase its capacity to counter an attack from China, the Japanese newspaper Yomiuri reported. The missiles would be capable of reaching North Korea and China's coastal areas, it said. In July, Japan had identified China, Russia and North Korea as its main security concerns in a defence white paper.
