Air Handler growth - Zoogloea

When you air handler starts leaking, chances are good that the plumbing therein is not functioning per design. Wanted to take the opportunity to showcase an unusual aspect of the new evaporator coil design that seems to encourage the growth of curious micro-organisms. Rumor has it that the traditional copper coils tended to resist growth better than the aluminum. Anyway, the moral of the story is to not panic at the sight of water gushing from the air handler; it's probably just your friendly neighborhood bacteria/fungi colony damming your flow. Nothing a wet vac and diluted Chlorine solution can't resolve. Best of luck to you.
