Trump set to ask court for ‘special master’ to review Mar-a-Lago evidence

Donald Trump is expected to seek the appointment of a special court official to determine whether materials that the FBI seized from his Florida resort can be used in a criminal investigation, according to his lead attorney Jim Trusty and two sources familiar with the matter. The Guardian reported.

Trump's attorney Jim Trusty told Levin that there needs to be a "special master" who can review the evidence as a third party to help "vindicate the Fourth Amendment rights of the president." Axios reported.

"We have privilege issues that are extremely important here," Trusty told Levin. "We do think that one of the benefits of the special master, if the master agrees with us, is we can stop DOJ in their tracks when it comes to inspecting these documents." Axios reported.

Trump and his supporters have for years believed the FBI and Justice Department are biased against the former president, arguing that the bureau improperly surveilled his 2016 presidential campaign. The Hill reports.
