Thousands attend Belfast Mela festival, a celebration of diversity on the island of Ireland

The founder of the Belfast Mela Festival, the largest celebration of cultural diversity on the island of Ireland, says many communities in Northern Ireland are making huge efforts to eradicate racism but that it remains a big problem. Huge crowds gathered in Belfast to watch a carnival parade earlier celebrating the start of the eight-day festival in the city.
