The poor old guard that got beat up by Meryl in MGS1 returned in MGS2 in two separate parts, this was the first encounter. You can only hear this while in the hostage room when Ocelot is having his conversation during the cut scene. The second part comes when you are sniping while Emma is crossing in the open.
