Rosamond, Ca Meeting On Proposed Sales Tax Increase (kern county)

Kern County, California is proposing a 1% sales tax increase for the unincorporated areas of the county. 350k people of the roughly 1 million Kern residents live in unincorporated areas. This measure will be in the ballot as "Proposition K". This livestreamed meeting in Rosamond is one of dozens being held to "educate the public" and not to "encourage or discourage voting for the proposal."

They hope to raise $54 million per year to put towards services such as police, fire, mental health. However, while the proposal is written to guarantee the funds will be spent in unincorporated areas, what and where exactly within those areas it is spent on is up to the county supervisors.

After listening to the meeting, I recommend to vote "NO" on proposition K in Kern County.
