Have you ever noticed that those promoted to positions of authority quickly tend to cease referring to everyone else as human beings?

Suddenly everyone around them is just some arbitrarily invented word for “subordinate” – a user, a resource, a worker, or a meta employee (whatever that is) – anything but an equal.

Old-world business leaders argued that they needed to distance from the rest of the staff (save a chosen few minions) for reasons of secrecy, security, and strategy – but let’s face it most of that is just a ruse to insulate themselves from having to justify their decisions or answer uncomfortable questions.

It’s completely absurd...
