Salman Rushdie Attacked During NY Speech

Author Salman Rushdie, whose writings led the Iranian government to call for his death in the 1980s, was about to give a lecture in Chautauqua, NY, Friday when someone jumped on stage and reportedly stabbed him in the neck. Rushdie's agent said he was undergoing surgery, but his condition is currently unknown.
