Minor Incident Turns BIZARRE When Man Decides to Cut His Own Throat

"DROP THE KNIFE!" Video released by the Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office shows an unexpected standoff between police and James Armstrong who, according to police had been "Baker Acted" -- that is, involuntarily committed to a mental hospital -- a few days prior. Armstrong had been rear-ended and left the scene of the accident. He was later found by police in the area but kept trying to relocate while waiting on Florida Highway Patrol to arrive for investigation. After a trooper spotted him with a box cutter cutting his own throat, a standoff unfolded. Armstrong was pepper sprayed out of the vehicle and tased when he refused to drop the weapon. He was taken into custody and charged with three counts of Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer.
