PEACE News & Views Ep23 with guest Artist Mohan

Mohan was born the youngest of four children in Bangalore, a city in Southern India, on October 22,1945. Bangalore has a population of more than 8 million and is the 18th largest city in the world. The kids didn't have money for playthings, so they made their own. Mohan loved to color the handmade toys and became quite adept at it.
After graduating high school, Mohan got a job and started saving his money. In 1965 he moved to London, England where he lived a carefree life earning money doing odd jobs. He went to Vienna on a holiday to visit his cousin who had a garment business. When he was leaving, his cousin invited Mohan to come and work with him.
Mohan moved to Vienna's 7th District in 1968 to join his cousin and work in the fashion industry. He fell in love with Austria, lived there for 23 years and became a citizen. He learned about textiles and colors. They opened another shop in Salzberg which Mohan ran. Mohan met and married an American girl whose father worked for the U.N. They had a son, got divorced, and his ex-wife and son moved back to the U.S. Mohan would later join them in California.
While living in California, Mohan worked for a property management company doing maintenance work. He was very good with his hands and loved to paint.
In 2010 Mohan met Steve Medoff who is now his manager. Steve wanted to get Mohan's work ready display so people could see it. Mohan started making frames and began to prepare some of the artwork for hanging. He also made a bunch of easels to exhibit the artworks. He also began painting exclusively on canvas adding more art to his inventory.
Mohan did his first solo exhibition in August 2011. It was an outdoor show on the lawn of The La Jolla Historical Society. It was quite a success and part of the proceeds were donated to the Society. Since then, his artwork has been exhibited in several galleries in Southern California and hangs in corporate offices and private homes.
