Finland’s PM denies taking drugs but refuses to be tested after party video leaked

Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin is facing increasing backlash and calls for a public drug test after footage emerged of her attending a party at which yelling about cocaine was allegedly heard, according to Politico citing Finnish media.

MP Mikko Karna, whose Center Party forms part of Marin’s coalition, is leading calls for her to take a drug test, saying ‘The people are also allowed to expect this from their prime minister.’

In a press conference on Thursday, Marin denied being a drug user, but dismissed calls for her to prove this. She has also hit out at the person who leaked the video, calling the party a ‘private event.’

This is not the first time Marin has faced backlash over ‘irresponsible behavior’ – she came under fire last year for going clubbing despite knowing a close colleague had just tested positive for Covid-19.
