DEFENDING THE FAITH - Mother of God (Part 2) - Mary is NOT 'God the Mother'

1.) Mary is the mother of Jesus, who is God; therefore, she is the mother of God.

2.) The Bible says that Jesus emptied Himself and became one of us in all ways but sin. Mary truly was the mother of Jesus and, along with Saint Joseph, foster father of Jesus, provided for all of Jesus' needs: carrying Him in her womb, giving birth to Him, nursing Him, teaching Him to walk and talk, etc.

3.) Mary is the mother of God; she is not "God the Mother". Mary is a creature of God, fully human; not divine. She is not equal to Jesus. However, the great love of her by Jesus has exalted her to a level higher than the rest of the saints.
