Genesis 5-10: The Story of Noah and the Flood

The writer of Genesis are presenting a view of human nature as created in the image of God. At the same time, humans are wicked, sinful and violent. The focus of the Story of the Flood is on God's response to human sinfulness, not destroying the earth (as in the Mesopotamian Flood Story) because of the "noisiness" of human beings. There is much more of an ethical side to the Biblical account. This account focuses on human behavior and the issue of what is right and what is wrong. For me, that is a more advanced type of spiritual belief.
