Starting in 2006, the requirements for entering the draft were raised to at least 19 years of age and a high school graduation of at least one year. International players can only enter the draft if they have played in a professional league in their home country, or if they attend high school or college in the United States. For young players in the draft, the NBA ranks them based on how well they played in college (or high school) , but that ranking does not determine the team's selection in the draft.
