With women’s soccer getting more popular around the world, opportunities are plentiful for budding young players who dream about representing their country in international competitions. Over the years, UEFA has been especially active in organizing various different competitions based on age groups. The UEFA Women’s Under-19 and Under-17 Championships were established in 1997 and 2007 respectively. Both these Championships are national competitions aimed at discovering exciting young players who will become the stars of tomorrow. While up and coming young players possess the basic qualities of a quality footballer, they also show the eagerness and desire to perform for their country. In doing so, their ambition may lead to overly aggressive tackles resulting from a lack of experience. Overly aggressive tackles can lead to very painful injuries which most have not encountered before. The youth tournaments are the perfect way for these youngsters to get exposure to real painful foot injuries. This is their story.
