Ask any top level athlete what happens when they enter a new romantic relationship. Distraction. Divided attention. Diminished focus. Lagging results. The same will be true of an organization of any size. When divisions occur among team mates, distraction ensues. When distractions about pay gaps, time cards, experience vs opportunity or any external affairs draw the attention of your team, your organizational vision is at danger of peril.

If you, as a leader, want to grow yourself and your organization, you must be deliberate, intentional and unwavering in your focus, both up close in the minute to minute granular details and the long range vision years down the road. You must also be willing and able to competently articulate that vision to the team until they find themselves uttering it in their sleep.
