DO YOU MEASURE RESULTS OR THOUGHTS AND ATTITUDES?

​Leadership is more like a jigsaw puzzle than legos. The pieces won’t fit just anywhere and if you know the desired outcome or image you are trying to create assembly is much easier. Having said that, many organizations have a sketch of the desired outcome, but when it comes to assembly they are more likely to erase and redraw the sketch than they are to remove and replace certain puzzle pieces. Leaders must be willing to ask why they have achieved the results they have. The same thinking that got you HERE...

Simply measuring the results to determine the gap between desired and achieved results will lead to ‘minding the gap’ philosophy and management style. This results not in true change or transformation but in the proverbial carrot and stick way of leading.
