Taking off keikis without breaking roots, can be a tight squeeze... too tight in many cases, and super risky, as the roots are in the way and must not be damaged. Once the keikis are removed from the mother plant, it becomes a seedling! A seedling with a single growth and roots that are not ready to absorb any water on their own. Protecting the roots is our top priority, so twisting is not always the best option. In this video, I demonstrate and talk about the pros and cons of twisting keikis off as opposed to cutting the keiki off including part of the cane from the mother plant, on which it is growing.
