In 2002, an article published in the Harvard University Gazette, described an experiment conducted on Tibetan monks in northern India. The monks wore thin clothes, were settled in a room at 40 degrees Fahrenheit (4 degrees Celsius), and entered a state of deep meditation. Then sheets soaked in cold water were draped over their shoulders.
Under such conditions, a normal person would shiver uncontrollably.
and the drop in body temperature may even result in death. However, the monks remained warm, and even dried the sheets with their body heat.
Once the sheets were dried, the researchers brought in more wet, cold sheets and draped them over the monks. Within several hours, each monk had dried three sheets.
In 1998, Professor Lu Yanfang and dozens of American scientists conducted research on qigong masters in China. Qigong is actually a form of “cultivation,” an ancient practice. Buddhist monks are also cultivators. Cultivation involves not just exercises or meditation,
it also requires the improvement of one’s character.
In Lu Yanfang's research, she found that qigong masters could produce powerful infrasonic waves that were 100 to 1,000 times stronger than that of a normal person.
In 1988, a similar study by Beijing University of Chinese Medicine found that the qi produced by qigong masters included infrasonic waves that were 100 times stronger than that of normal people.
In 2000, medical writer Lara C. Pullen interviewed some Falun Dafa practitioners for an article that was later published on CBS’s Health Watch. Falun Dafa is a cultivation practice which focuses on both mind and body. It is a discipline in which “assimilation to the highest qualities of the universe—Zhen, Shan, Ren (Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance)” is the foundation of the practice. According to media reports, many Falun Dafa practitioners’ illnesses disappeared after they started practicing.
Yang Sen, then 39, from Chicago was diagnosed with chronic hepatitis.
He told Pullen, "A doctor told me directly, ‘There is no way to really cure your disease. You will have it for the rest of your life.'"
After practicing Falun Dafa for some time, Yang Sen went for a physical exam.
All 32 test reports turned out normal, including those related to hepatitis.
Falun Dafa practitioners explained that the goal of the practice is not to cure illnesses, but people will get better as a side effect when they focus on improving their character while doing the meditative exercises. As the energy they cultivate increases, they will see changes in their bodies.
