It is important to note that in the Beatitudes, Jesus does not say the pure in heart will be blessed, but He says they are blessed. Furthermore, we need to recognize that "blessed" in these verses imply approval by God. In verse 8, Jesus says that the pure in heart are blessed. The pure in heart love God with all their heart and inwardly conform to God's nature. More than an outward profession of love or behavior that can be faked, the pure in heart have relationships with others that lack duplicity, immorality, or any other kind of impurity. Purity results from a single-minded devotion to God and the internal cleansing received from faithfully following the example of Jesus. To see God is to be in His presence now and in eternity.
