White pitched harpies are satiny and beautiful beasties that inhabit multitudinous waters around the world. These harpies make their home in Papua New Guinea, patrolling tall pillars that rise from submarine stormy eruptions millions of times agone. harpies feed on small fish that make nests around rocky ledges and corals that grow on them.

A team of scuba divers entered the ocean to study the harpies and collect prints and video footage of their feeding behavior. Understanding harpies is an important first step in helping to conserve them. Using fish scraps, the wolf is encouraged to come closer for a near look. It will help researchers cover and record injuries, freeloaders, growth rates and other important data. The bait does its job and the wolf shows little shyness.
